Our Story
Our story is built on resilience, lived experience, and the healing power of animals. Though our journeys are different, we are united by a commitment to helping others heal through connection, compassion, and community. What once helped our families find hope has grown into a mission to support others on their path toward healing.

Debi Stinson
Founder & Executive Director
Hey y’all, I’m Debi, but most people call me Deb. I’m the Founder and Executive Director of our organization, a role rooted in both lived experience and a passion for helping others heal. I graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Environmental Science. I am a teenage domestic violence survivor and a long-time military spouse. These experiences have shaped my understanding of trauma, resilience, and the importance of compassionate support.
After our family lost everything in a devastating house fire, I found healing through animals. That healing became the foundation of our mission.
As Founder and Executive Director, I provide vision and direction for the organization, oversee programs, and ensure our mission is carried out with integrity, transparency, and care. I strive to make every individual and family we serve feel seen, supported, and valued.
My husband’s diagnoses of PTSD and a TBI taught our family that trauma impacts more than just one person; it reshapes the entire family system. Together, we learned how to navigate a new normal, and that journey continues to guide my work today. My goal is to help others heal from their own traumas by sharing my experiences and opening our farm as a place of hope, connection, and restoration.

Katy Chambers
Director of Operations
Hi, I’m Katy, Director of Operations for The Little Legacy Project. I married the love of my life, Frank, in 2014, and we live in Clarksville, Tennessee, with our four dogs and cat, who are our world. I was raised as a military brat, and love learning about other cultures and customs.
As Director of Operations, I oversee the day-to-day operations of our organization, ensuring our programs, events, and community outreach run smoothly and align with our mission.
Animals and volunteering have been passions of mine since childhood. Gifts are my love language, and nothing brings me more joy than giving back to the community that has given so much to me. As a military child and a trauma survivor, I understand that it truly takes a village.
My focus is to provide a safe space for everyone, regardless of gender, race, religion, or orientation. You are all important. You are all welcome. You are all loved.

Chris Stinson
Director of Veteran Relations & Communications
Hi, I’m Chris, Director of Veteran Relations and Communications. I medically retired from the U.S. Army after 18 years of service, including multiple deployments. My military career shaped who I am, but it was my journey after service that led me to this work.
As Director of Veteran Relations and Communications, I serve as a trusted point of connection for veterans and active-duty service members, as someone who understands their experiences and provides a shoulder to lean on. I also act as the organization’s spokesperson, supporting public relations and helping share our mission, programs, and impact with the broader community.
During my service, I was injured in an IED explosion while on a convoy mission, resulting in a traumatic brain injury. I was later diagnosed with PTSD. Like many veterans, I struggled to find the support I needed and experienced a loss of identity as I navigated life after trauma. Those challenges validated my understanding of how isolating and overwhelming this transition can be.
In 2013, my life changed when I received a service dog through TADSAW. My new battle buddy, Onex—also a veteran—played a critical role in my healing, alongside the unwavering support of my family. Through that bond, I began to regain parts of myself I once believed were lost.
Today, my hope is to provide veterans and active-duty service members with a sense of belonging, understanding, and support. By combining lived experience, peer connection, and the healing power of animal companionship, I strive to help others feel seen, valued, and never alone on their journey.

Glenda Sonneman
Farm Ambassador
Meet Glenda, our Farm Ambassador and one of the brightest lights on our farm. Glenda has been part of our family for many years and brings joy and laughter to everyone she meets. She never meets a stranger and has a remarkable ability to make others feel welcome and valued.
Glenda spent much of her childhood in group homes and, through state-run programs, learned how to join the workforce and become a productive member of her community despite her disabilities. She met the love of her life and married him in 1991. Tragically, she became a widow five short years later at just 35 years old. In 2025, Glenda added "Breast Cancer Survivor" to her resume after bravely facing and, thankfully, overcoming her breast cancer diagnosis. While her life has included significant trauma and loss, Glenda’s story is one of perseverance, resilience, and heart.
She is a lifelong Special Olympics athlete and is active in our local Buddy Ball sports program. Glenda has a deep love for Disney, animals, bowling, and art, and her creativity and enthusiasm shine through in everything she does. Her presence reminds us daily that healing, purpose, and belonging look different for everyone, and that each person has something meaningful to contribute.
Glenda is an inspiration to our team, our visitors, and our community, and we are honored to have her as part of our "herd".
